Many people say that I am a serious bookworm. They're mostly right. I have a master's degree in literature and I specialize in antique books. I own a massive collection of rare books. I host auctions and cocktail parties quite often, and I really couldn't say which is better!

New Used Stuff!

Alrighty, I have been waiting on this woman to do some testing on the newest box o' fun I bought, a gigantic lot of... and array of books, documents and photos. I have gotten one photo back so far as well as a telegram. It is definitely WWII era, as it is definitely from Hitler.

So you have been forewarned that I don't know what to make of it just yet, and you didn't even have to sign a disclaimer. I have to tell you right now, I can't make sense of what is in this stuff. Literally. I don't really think that they are historically accurate, but then again, I couldn't give you a straight answer on what I think they are.

My friend Jerry wants to borrow one of the things I got to have it appraised, and since seeing this odd stuff, I'm not exactly sure what it is I have anyways.

Ooops! I didn't even realize what time it is, I guess that means I'll post the photo when I get back home.

Feel free to leave comments here on what you think!

So many wonderful things!

I have online touched the tip of the iceberg with going through all of the books that I recently obtained. Quite a few things really got my attention. I found among the scattered book pages a few WWII documents, an old letter, and what appears to be a piece of a 16th century manuscript. It may be the find of the century, it may not. I am still trying to find out what it means, as strangely enough, the WWII document is somehow tied to it. Maybe they are fakes. Even stranger are the photos of nazi soldiers. I don't want to give too much away, just enough to get your attention, as I am not a hoaxer nor a gullible person.

I will keep you all updated on my findings as I learn more!

A few rareties worth looking at

This book was published in 1633, and it covers various aspects and subjects of astrological nature.

It is called "YU TU BEI KAO QUAN SHU" and it is one of the oldest and rarest books covering Celestial Phenomena of it's time. Not only is it very intriguing, but it is also very accurate.

The author was very methodical, as there are only 5 more of it's kind in the world... not reproductions or prints, but hand-written copies by the author, with his corrections.

"MULTAKA AL ABHUR"

1517 - An early law book of the Ottoman Empire.

One of my personal favorites! Printed in 1647, "SELENOGRAPHIA" is the first known lunar atlas.

Hope you all enjoy these wonderful scans, I will get on posting scans of the new books as well once I finish up closing the deals of the week.

Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I would imagine most of you all are taking a little catnap by now. We can thank our dear friend tryptophan for that! I haven't taken a nap as of yet, for there is much to be done!

I've been so tied up with recent auctions and estates lately, but fear not, I have a wonderful collection to share with you!

Also, I have had a few people around here ask me about the music I put up on the page. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy it! It's soothing, and a bit groovy as well!

I'm a bit giddy today as I have purchased a GIGANTIC lot of very old books and I know it will be a long time before I am able to go through them all! Unfortunately, not all of them are in "survivable" condition. Quite a few are severley damaged, and I have ten times as many leaflets floating around now as I do books! Now it comes down to the Memory game, match 'em up!

I would really like to thank everyone who attended our last big sale, as well as the people supporting the cause to keep our history alive!

Welcome to PeoriaOnline!

PeoriaOnline is an online location for the Peoria Historical Society.

We are a very small group that have been collecting antique books and rare documents since 1984. If you have any old books or documents that seem to have no significance, perhaps you should not be so quick to get rid of them!
We don't appraise anything here, although our location has been a site for many private auctions in the past.

We will update this blog as much as possible, and hopefully our influence can become a wealth of knowledge.

Thank You for dropping by!
